Why Do Some People Make Foolish Choices? (Part 1 of 4)

Spiritual wisdom and knowledge are learned through having a personal relationship with the Creator of wisdom and knowledge. If our relationship with Christ is faltering, detached, uncommitted, or rebellious we are more prone to walking life under our own foolish understanding.
That is what I did. I walked foolishly, not understanding God's wisdom for my life. Thankfully I found the road that leads to God and overcame foolishness and folly. I realized I was a fool for not following in the ways of the Lord. Today I am a smart woman heeding the principles of Christ in my life in every which way that I can. Let me share with you what I have learned.
But the truth is, if we are not following in the ways of the Lord then what kind of a Christian would we be for ourselves and to others? The true Disciples of Christ have taken up their cross and are following Him, learning from Him, and sharing what they know with others, and so can you.
Why Do We Make Foolish Lifestyle Choices
Have you made some unwise choices in your life? Everyone does foolish things from time to time, but why do some people remain in foolishness? It is because they have not outgrown silly wayward patterns and habits and grown spiritually in the Lord. Could it be that their relationship with the Lord has never been established or has become faltered somehow?
The difference between a foolish person, who is a slave to their foolish ways, and the person who does something foolish once in a while is simply this: to err is to be human, but to continue in that err is to be a slave to it. In essence you become a slave to whatever is controlling your behavior.
We make foolish choices because we really don't have a close relationship with God. Going to church once a week and then carrying on with our day-to-day lifestyle is not conducive to the Christ-like walk. When God is out of our mind we dwell on things of the material world and those are the things that keep us occupied-buying a new car, paying the mortgage, spending hours shopping for stuff that we really don't need.
We have to ask ourselves, "What is controlling my behavior? Can I give it up for good?" Absolutely you can! What or who is molding your character now? Part two of this article will talk about the steps that lead to a growing relationship with God.

Thanks so much for reading each part of this four part series and commenting. You are a dear!Much blessings to you and yours,In Christ,AngieWriting all the time (I post on several websites) Need to figure out a focus for part 4 of Owner's Manual... I am sure you can relate - thinking about the Father heart of God.... what do you think? MarijoI know you write all the time, Marijo, you're like me...its in the blood to write, I'm addicted. I was referring to the new books you are writing. Anyway, The "Father aspect of God in a nutshell is that we are His children and His instructions and commands are our tools for righteous living. His Words, the bible is the Christians owner manual for good and right living. If we veer away from the Father's instruction for us it could lead us into err. If we stay on the road that leads to the Father by following his instruction for us our lives will be blessed--cause and effect...Blessings,A :-)I am thinking about going over some excellent notes I took over 25 years ago in Youth With a Mission on the Father Heart of God - good points made and contrasted our perfect heavenly father from what some have known through the earthly father - not sure if it is for the Owner's Manual series or a stand along piece (non-fiction). I haven't heard back from the fellow who lectured on sexual purity and not sure still about using his comments on the cassettes....Blessings right back to you too!
